{"id":14601,"date":"2026-05-11T08:59:34","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T12:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/lewis\/?p=14601"},"modified":"2026-05-11T08:59:34","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T12:59:34","slug":"newbold-charles-e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/lewis\/newbold-charles-e\/","title":{"rendered":"Newbold, Charles E"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Charles Elliott Newbold, Jr., 90, of Knoxville, passed away at home on April 11, 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"image-container w75 storyimage_centeralign\">\n<div class=\"imageDiv\">\n<p class=\"caption\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Charles was preceded in death by his sisters, Jennie Lou Brumley and Patricia Faith Bledsoe, his son Charles (Shane) Elliott Newbold, III, and stepdaughter Margaret Ann (Peggy) Egli.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Shelly Ellen Newbold; grandchildren Cody Newbold Nixon, Luke Elliott Newbold, Zachary Charles Newbold (Ashley), Martina Newbold Whitehead, Emily Kate Tolson, Matthew Joseph Tolson (Claudia); daughter-in-law Becky Newbold Schrank; six great-grandchildren; also stepdaughters Mary Lane DeChellis and Sally McDonald Lane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, in 1935 to Charles Elliott Newbold, Sr, and Virginia Little Newbold, Charles earned a B.A. from Bethel University and a Master of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. He then served in pastoral ministry until he became Executive Director of the Anderson County Community Action Agency. Later, he combined his love of photography with entrepreneurship, producing slide-sound presentations for business, industry, and occasionally for his family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In 1970, he married Nancy McDonald Newbold, his wife of 55 years. Following a profound spiritual experience in 1978 which transformed the course of his life, Charles participated in a glorious Christian home fellowship. After further church experiences, he received spiritual insight that led to writing the book The Crucified Ones. For over three decades, the Lord inspired several other books and numerous writings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He will be remembered for his deep faith, dedication to ministry, artistic eye, and dry sense of humor, as well as his love for family and his spiritual community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">An informal celebration of life for friends and family will be held on April 25th at 2 p.m. at Click Funeral Home, Farragut, Tennessee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Charles Elliott Newbold, Jr., 90, of Knoxville, passed away at home on April 11, 2026.
