Born on <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">September 22, 1944, in Nashville, TN, Paul was the shining light in the lives of many, touching hearts with his spirited nature and his enduring dedication to his family and community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Paul was the cherished husband of Martha Hodges Raines, with whom he shared over 60 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Kimberly (Terry) Latham and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Steven (Tracy) Raines, who added joy and purpose to his life. Paul was a brother to Reynolds (Janie) Raines, J.W. (Effie) Raines, Billy (Ella Mae) Raines, Annie Myrtle Raines, Sandra (Eddie) <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Colwell, Doris Muskopf, and Helen (Jimmy) McCutcheon. He was a loving grandfather to Tyler (Susan) Raines, Chris (Taylor) Spurlock, Bella \u201dGrace\u201d Raines, Tony (Savanna) Vandusen, Sawyer Latham, and Kayley Latham, and a proud great-grandfather to Lincoln Raines. He was a life-long friend, brother, &amp; partner in crime to John (Pat) Godfrey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Paul\u2019s life was a testament to his faith-filled heart, he truly lived what he believed.\u00a0 He was a graduate of\u00a0Baptist Bible College with a degree in Theology, which laid the foundation for his over 50 years of pastoral\u00a0service. He celebrated this golden milestone in May of 2014 but didn&#8217;t retire from\u00a0his\u00a0charge to\u00a0spread the gospel\u00a0until he &#8220;went home&#8221; to meet Jesus Monday morning. Simply put, Paul loved Jesus and Paul loved people. If given half a chance, he tried to introduce the two. He\u00a0never met a stranger.\u00a0 His giving heart was surpassed only by his capacity to love.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0Paul enjoyed working in his\u00a0yard, spending time with family and playing jokes whenever the opportunity arose.\u00a0 His ability to surprise people with his \u201cDog mumps\u201d jokes was unparalleled, leaving a trail of laughter wherever he went. And in fact, the family is on edge as Paul always said he was going to ask God if he could be in charge of the lightning\u00a0when he got to\u00a0heaven. The concern is rain is in the forecast for the day of his funeral.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Paul\u2019s presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he has\u00a0left behind. Milton Paul Raines was a man of God, a loving family man, and a friend to all. His presence was of comfort and his wisdom a guiding light. He lived a life of service, spreading joy and kindness with a generous heart. Paul\u2019s memory will be forever cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Visitation with family will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 10:00-2:00 pm in the chapel of Adair Funeral &amp; Cremation Services. The service will begin at 2:00 pm with Tyler <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Raines and Chris Spurlock officiating, followed by the burial at Memorial Gardens in Hohenwald.
