Chandler Michael officiating. Following the service, she was laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Born on January 20, 1938, alongside her twin sister, Loyce, in a two-room log cabin in Hohenwald, Tennessee, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Escar Tharp and the late Lockey Turnbow Tharp. She attended Indian Creek Elementary, Gordonsburg School, and Lewis County High School.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Evelyn began her working career at H.I.S. and later joined Horace Small Manufacturing in Mt. Pleasant, where she remained until her retirement. In 1963, she married Joe Curtis, who preceded her in death in 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">A devoted member of The Pentecostals of Columbia, where her brother, Bishop Tharp pastored for approximately forty years, Evelyn lived her faith daily through her generosity and compassion. She found joy in cooking, helping her neighbors, and giving selflessly to anyone in need. Those who knew her will remember her kind heart and giving spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She is survived by her sisters in law, Doris Tharp, Sharon Tharp, Jonnie Tharp, and numerous nieces and nephews.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother, Maude Tharp, and siblings, James Tharp, Billy Tharp, Telford Tharp, Betty Sue Ellzey, and Loyce Barber.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Those serving all pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Tharp, Philip Tharp, Jayme Tharp, Michael Tharp, Barry Conner, Ricky Conner, and Wayne Reed.
