{"id":13951,"date":"2025-07-12T15:12:32","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T19:12:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/lewis\/?p=13951"},"modified":"2025-07-12T15:12:32","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T19:12:32","slug":"pendergrast-barbara-b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/lewis\/pendergrast-barbara-b\/","title":{"rendered":"Pendergrast, Barbara B"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"obit-and-service__obituary\">\n<div class=\"obit-and-service__obituary__text\">\n<div class=\"obituary edit-container\">\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Barbara Boling Pendergrast, 88, resident of Albany, Oregon, formerly of Germantown, Tennessee for over forty-seven years, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother peacefully departed this life on June 19, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Barbara was born June 26, 1936, in Morris Chapel, Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Howard Lee Boling and Eura Mae Orr Boling. She was a graduate of Morris Chapel High School, where she was valedictorian, attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she was an active member of the Wesley Foundation and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and was graduated from UT Health and Science Center in Memphis where she received a B.S. in Medical Laboratory Science.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She married James M. Pendergrast of Memphis on June 13, 1959. She was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class, a Sanctuary Altar Flower Arranger and in earlier years organized the Red Cross Blood Drive and was a choir member. Barbara was a member of Germantown Garden Club where she loved to participate in flower shows and served as president.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Barbara enjoyed traveling with her children in the US and parts of Europe. For many years she served the healthcare community in the Hematology Laboratory at Methodist Hospital in Memphis as a staff technologist and manager and in 2013 she retired from the Hematology Laboratory at Baptist Memorial Hospital after 25 years. In retirement she became interested in genealogy and did extensive research on the Boling, Orr, Dickson and Pendergrast family lines and visited Bolling Hall in Yorkshire, England.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Barbara is survived by her son Perry M. Pendergrast (Fred Beilstein), of Germantown, Tennessee, her daughter, Patricia B. Pendergrast Wascher (Rick) of Albany, Oregon. She is also survived by four cherished grandchildren to whom she was \u201cGranna\u201d: Dillon Wascher (Tracey), Devin Wascher (Anna), Dale Wascher (Abby), and Darbie Wascher including her three great grandchildren: Mikhaila Logan, Blake Wascher and Austin Wascher all of whom she dearly loved. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother Phillip Lee Boling and her children\u2019s father James M.
