James was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 4, 1956, to the late Horace &amp; Mary Ann Ivaniszyn Bates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">James graduated from Western High in Detroit, Michigan and worked in manufacturing. After retirement he was happiest in his own space and his comfort was in his quiet routines, puttering around the house and sitting in his favorite chair. Retirement only gave him more time to do what he loved, watching UT football and cheering on the Detroit Tigers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">James is survived by a host of extended family members and dear friend Brett Jones. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Visitation and Funeral Services are Pending.\u00a0 Burial will be at Hilltop Cemetery, Lyles, TN.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, Tennessee is honored to be serving the Bates Family during this difficult time.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Horace \u201cJames\u201d Bates, of Centerville, Tennessee passed away on May 24, 2025, at the age of 68.
