A devoted member of the Church of Christ, she believed in showing her faith through action: caring for others, offering encouragement, and putting others before herself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">On May 5, 2025, Kathryn Dale Hicks, of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a life that spoke more through kindness than words ever could. Kathryn was born in Cullman, Alabama, on August 2, 1936, to the late Alton and Bessie Davis Dooley.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She began her professional life as an executive secretary, following that she her poured her creativity into a flower shop she proudly owned in Jasper, Alabama. Kathryn brought beauty, comfort and joy to her community through every arrangement she made. No matter the occasion, her flowers spoke the gentle language of love and care just like she did.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Outside of work she found peace in reading, often curled up with a book and a fresh baked something cooling nearby. At every gathering she made sure everyone\u2019s favorite dessert was on the table \u2013 homemade cheesecake for one, pecan pie for another \u2013 because that\u2019s just who she was. She remembered, she noticed, and she gave. On Sunday mornings, her voice rose in song, strong and steady, and during the week her hands stayed busy caring for others. Her life was stitched together by faith, family, and an instinctive kindness that never needed to be taught \u2013 it just was.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Kathryn leaves behind a devoted, loving husband of 60 years, William Hicks of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, son Noel (Stephanie) Hicks of Pegram, Tennessee, sister Brenda Moon of Jasper, Alabama and nephew Barry Moon of Jasper, Alabama.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Her life was one of faith, generosity and of love that tasted just a little sweeter when served on a dessert plate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Visitation with the family will be 7 May 2025 from 4:00 &#8211; 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home &#8211; Hickman County.\u00a0 Funeral Services will be held 8 May 2025 at 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home &#8211; Hickman County with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Centerville, TN.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, Tennessee is honored to be serving the Hicks Family during this difficult time.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Faithful, gentle and always serving \u2013 Kathryn Hicks quietly embodied the love of Christ every day of her life.
