Three years ago, she relocated to Summertown, Tennessee, to help care for her sister after the passing of her beloved husband\u2014a testament to her generous and loving spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She was a devoted Christian and a proud member of Baugus Church of God, where her faith shined brightly in all she did. A woman of strength and sass, Sarah had an undeniable zest for life\u2014so much so that she even had a beloved dog named Sassy to match her spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sarah loved to travel, especially on cruises, and never met a stranger. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Ladies Society, a group dedicated to celebrating life, friendship, and fun among women, reminding each other to embrace joy and laughter at every stage of life. She also dedicated her career to caring for others, working as a home health aide and in a group home for those with disabilities.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In earlier years, she found joy in cooking and lovingly crafted baby quilts for her family\u2014treasured keepsakes that continue to bring comfort. She also had a passion for singing karaoke, filling every room with music and joy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Above all, Sarah\u2019s greatest love was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and warm memories that will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Mrs. Hoben is survived by her son David Guthrie of Belleville, MI, daughter Melissa (James) Carver of Cairo, GA, daughter Dr. Sarah (George) Wescott of Mason, OH, brother Randal (Glenda) Morgan, sister Linda Dykes of Summertown, TN, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, seven nieces and eight\u00a0 nephews. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by sons Michael &amp; Dennis Guthrie, daughter Lisa Guthrie, brothers David, Pat &amp; Charles Morgan, and sister Beatrice Satterfield.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Visitation with the Hoben family will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 5:00 PM &#8211; 7:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald, TN.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 beginning at 11:00 AM at Baugus Church of God in Summertown, TN, with a burial to follow at the Baugus Church Cemetery, Summertown, TN.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">If anyone would like to make a donation in memory of Mrs. Sarah Hoben, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hoben family.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sarah Elizabeth Hoben, born August 24, 1943, in Pleasant Grove, Alabama, passed away on April 2, 2025 at the age of 81.
