He was born in Todd County, Kentucky on February 23, 1958, to the late William Turner and Mary Frances Christian Ellis. In addition to his parents, Sammy was preceded in death by his sister Vivian Gail Ellis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sammy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vickie Engelman Ellis, daughters April Dawn (Chris) Wallace and Brandi Jeanane (Dustin) Mackin, grandchildren Ellis Cole Edwards, Emmaleigh Grace Mackin, Addison Faith Mackin and Brilee Hope Mackin, sister Becky (Ricky) Jeanette, brothers, Jerry Ellis, Bill Ellis, Jr., Randy (Lynn) Ellis, numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of other family and friends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sammy was a loving, kind and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved people and they loved him. Everywhere he went he made some type of impact on people. No one could begin to compare to the knowledge he carried of just about every sport created. He loved music and he loved to sing. He possessed so many great qualities but in that he was always trying to build someone else and take the attention away from himself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sammy will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Ellis family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"obituary-text edit\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">V<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">isitation with the family will be 18 Feb 2025 from 4:00 &#8211; 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home &#8211; Hickman County.\u00a0 Funeral Services will be held 19 Feb 2025 at 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home &#8211; Hickman County with burial to follow at Memory Gardens, Centerville, TN.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Samuel Freeman Ellis, 66 years of age, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Dickson, Tennessee.
