He was born on September 9, 1929, in Limestone County, AL, to the late George Alfa Franklin and Myrtle Ethel Turner Franklin. A decorated veteran, he retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 24 years of dedicated service in the US Air Force, leaving a legacy of honor and commitment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In addition to his parents, George and Myrtle, he is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bessie Lenore Brackeen Franklin, and their son, James Steven Franklin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Karen L. Johnston of Nashville, TN; his grandchildren, Michelle (Gregory) Garcia, Moriah Garland, and Jo Zeferino; and his great-grandchildren, Christian Wade, Lance Garcia, Evan Garcia, Jonah Garland, and Noelia Zeferino.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until service time.
