Stephie Marie Kapalin Lawson was born on September 12, 1936 at her family home in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away at her home in Centerville, Tennessee on February 27, 2024. She was 87 years old.<\/span><\/p>\n

She is the daughter of the late Anton Kapalin and Stephie Josephine Sachr Kapalin.<\/span><\/p>\n

She was also preceded in death by her husband Douglas R. Lawson, who passed away in 1998. They married on May 27, 1961 and were together for 37 years at his passing. Her oldest son Douglas A. Lawson also preceded her, and passed away in 1989.<\/span><\/p>\n

She leaves to cherish her memory her children Bryan (Karen) Lawson of Lyles, Cindy Lawson Bowman of Centerville, Joel (Susie) Lawson of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Jason (Christy) Lawson of Lyles. Sister Helen Coleman of Medina, Ohio. Brother Tony Kapalin of Brunswick, Ohio. Grandchildren: Hunter (Tiffany) Martin, Brandy Penley, Kyle (Tarrah) Lawson, Troy Bowman Jr., Tyler Bowman, Stephany (Cody) Qualls, Brittney (Erich) Hayes, Megan (Brandon) Rigsby, and Joel (Haley) Lawson. Great Grandchildren: Ansley, Addie Grace, Journey, Cooper, Kyzer, Aurora, Noah, Joleigh, Maisy, Aubrey, Lawson, and Cambree. Several nieces and nephews. Along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Lawson worked for 27 years at Life Care of Centerville. She retired from there in 2000. She was a hard worker and loved her job there. She was the 1998 Employee of the year for her role in providing life saving measures to a patient when they had to be transported by ambulance. Through her job she was able to show her nature as a compassionate caregiver daily.<\/span><\/p>\n

Growing up Stephie was surrounded by a blending of culture from her mother and father\u2019s side of the family. Her father was Bohemian and her mother was born in the Republic of Czechoslovakia. Her unique upbringing led her to be the spicy, funny, polka music loving and energetic person that she was. She loved to have fun with her family.<\/span><\/p>\n

She enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels, playing cards especially Pinochle, Rummy and Canasta, napping, and watching Chicago Fire on ION TV. She was an excellent cook. Her children\u2019s favorite dishes are her fried chicken, okra, macaroni salad, rosettes pastry, and homemade donuts.<\/span><\/p>\n

She was a wonderful mom, and she proudly wore the titles of \u201cGranny\u201d and \u201cGG\u201d. She adored her grandchildren. She was also Granny to many who were not hers but she loved them just the same. She is going to be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Visitation with the family will be 1 March 2024 from 4;00 – 8:00 PM and 2 March 2024 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. – Hickman County.\u00a0 Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County.\u00a0 Mr. Bill McDonald will officiate services.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
