He was born on October 8, 1951, in Rome, GA to the late William H. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Morton, Sr. and Virginia Morton. Roy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Wynette Morton of Savannah TN, his son Mark Roy Morton, Jr. (Dee) of Dickson TN, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">and his sister Julie Wynn of Jonesboro GA. He was preceded in death by his brother, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">William (Bill) Morton, Jr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Roy was an avid golfer and hunter. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">in the great outdoors, pursuing his hobbies. He was known for his skills and passion <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">in these activities. Roy&#8217;s love for golf and hunting brought him joy and relaxation <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">throughout his life. In addition to his hobbies, Roy had a deep love for reading, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">constantly expanding his knowledge and exploring new worlds through books.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Roy proudly served in the US Navy for 22 years, MSCS (SW). His dedication and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">commitment to his military service were commendable. Roy&#8217;s time in the Navy <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">shaped his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty and loyalty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">After his military service, Roy had a successful career with the State of Tennessee, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Department of Corrections, as a Culinary Arts instructor where he made valuable <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">contributions over the years. His hard work and dedication left a lasting impact on his <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">colleagues and the community he served.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">A memorial service to honor Roy&#8217;s life will be held at McDonald Funeral Home in <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Centerville, TN.\u00a0 Services will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Roy&#8217;s family would like to extend their gratitude to Doug Marques and Teresa (Chris) Moore for their support and kindness during these past few weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In memory of Roy, his family requests that donations be made to a charity of your <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">choice. Roy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">touched with his caring and devoted nature.
