(January 20, 1937 \u2013 August 30, 2023)<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Hamilton was a native of Hickman County, growing up in Centerville and the Swan Creek Community. At the time of her passing, she was residing in Clarksville, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Clyde D. Aydelott and Hazel Gladys Peery Aydelott and her brother, C.D. Aydelott (2019).<\/p>\n<p>She graduated from Hickman County High School and attended Austin Peay State University graduating with a Bachelor\u2019s Degree, later returning to earn her Master\u2019s Degree. She was said by many to be an icon in her teaching profession at Hickman County High School in which she taught many subjects, including English, Advanced English and Bookkeeping. She also taught for Columbia State and Austin Peay as well as GED and night classes. Her educational profession was one she held to the highest of esteem, holding the bar high for her students and for some influencing their career choices. She received numerous accolades in her teaching career including the Distinguished Teacher Award.<\/p>\n<p>After 30 years of teaching, Mrs. Hamilton became the Food Service Nutritional Director for Hickman County Schools. As with teaching, she put her best foot forward and changed the face of the nutritional program including the introduction of the school breakfast program, making significant strides in ensuring that no student went hungry. She served in this role for fifteen years until her retirement.<\/p>\n<p>In retirement, she lived in Clarksville, Tennessee, where her grandchildren were, and continued to maintain her home in Centerville, visiting often. She also spent a great deal of time in Nashville where Kathy, where her youngest daughter lives. Her heart and the roots of who she was always belonged to Centerville, the place she chose to raise her two girls, Shirley and Kathy.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond her work, she enjoyed traveling and had a talent for planning trips, some of which were to England, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Hawaii, and Alaska. Her favorite trips though included her family, treasuring the yearly family beach vacations which were a highlight of the summer to spend time with family, children and grandchildren. She had a busy lifestyle which was to be admired.<\/p>\n<p>Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Shirley (Randy) Butler (Clarksville, Tennessee) and Kathy Hamilton (Nashville, Tennessee), three grandchildren, Brad (Haley) Butler, Chris Butler (Clarksville, Tennessee) and Bethany (John) Knoble (Salem, Alabama). She was blessed with a great-grandaughter and namesake, Penny Eleanor Butler, a great-grandson, Cooper Butler (Clarksville) and newest member of the family, Adelyn Knoble (Alabama). To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was known as \u201cMama Tu\u201d. Her heart, generosity, kindness and selflessness will live on in them all, she loved her family and will be greatly missed as we are all losing a piece of our heart.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"obituary__section\">\n<p class=\"obituary__section__title\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Visitation with the family will be 2 Sep 2023 from <\/span>4:00 PM &#8211; 6:30 PM and 3 Sep 2023 from 12:oo Noon &#8211; 2:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. &#8211; Hickman County.\u00a0 Funeral Services will be held 3 Sep 2023 at 2:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. &#8211; Hickman County with burial to follow at Campground Cemetery, Centerville, TN.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mrs. Eleanor (Peery) Aydelott Hamilton passed away in the early morning hours on August 30, 2023.
