Winslett, Carol Ann
Ann, as she was known before moving to Centerville, grew up in Hueytown, Alabama and earned a scholarship to Birmingham Southern College. After a courtship of three dates, she married William Perry Winslett on August 19, 1952. They spent their 60+ years together living in Hueytown, AL, Nashville and Fairview, TN, before returning to Pleasant Grove, AL for the remaining ten years of their married life together. While living in TN, she worked in the Metro Davidson County Schools as a teacher’s assistant in special education and kindergarten.
Ann loved spending her time with family and friends playing board and card games, working jigsaw puzzles, or watching Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball games. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting blankets and scarves for family and friends. As she moved between Alabama and Tennessee, she was an active member in the Hueytown, Crievewood, and Westview United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by her husband, William Perry Winslett.
Ann is survived by her sons, Jim Winslett (Marilyn) of Lyles, TN, Will Winslett (Amy) of Boerne, TX; grandchildren, Susan Publow (Nathan), Nathan Winslett, Wesley Winslett, and Casey Starnes (Brent); great-grandchildren, Emory, Charlotte, and David Publow, Shelby, Audie, and Corrina Winslett, and Lilliann Starnes; brother, Lewis Eberdt; nephew, Mike Eberdt and special friends, Glenda Mullins and JD Nichols, who were all the pride and joy of her life.

Visitation with the family will be 17 July 2024 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. – Hickman County. A Memorial Service will be held 18 July 2024 at 1:15 PM at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115.
