Vera Runions Weaks, Ponderosa Street, died Friday, May 24, 2002 at Lewis County Manor. Mrs. Weaks, 88, was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Mary Katherine Sims Akin. She was born September 8, 1913 in Lewis County. She was a housewife. The funeral was held Sunday, May 26 at 2:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home with Pastors Glenn Floyd and Richard Tate officiating. Burial was in the Swiss Cemetery. Mrs. Weaks is survived by two sons, Charles “Chuck” and Dewayne Runions of Hohenwald; two daughters, Oneida Loveless of New Johnsonville, and Idell Barber of Hohenwald; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Webb W Runions; second husband, George Arthur Weaks; two sons, James and Joe Runions; two daughters, Shirley Barnes and Martha Sisco; a brother, Lawrence Akin; and two sisters, Thelma York and Mary Whitlock.
