Virginia Jones Townsend of Parsons, mother of Judge Billy W. Townsend of Hohenwald, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at Decatur County General Hospital in Parsons. Services were conducted Monday, January 17 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Parsons. Interment took place in the Parsons Cemetery. Mrs. Townsend, 87, was born August 20, 1923 in Decatur County to W. A. Jones and Delia Conway Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Wayne Townsend; brother, Dan Jones; and grandson, Adam Townsend. Survivors include two sons, Billy Wayne Townsend (Phyllis) of Hohenwald and Larry Edwin Townsend (Wanda) of Parsons; one daughter, Sherry Townsend Leitch (Tom) of Parsons; one brother, Joe Jones (Robin) of Clifton; seven grandchildren Rebecca Rawdon (Rob) and Ginette Townsend, both of Hohenwald, Brandi Leitch Goff (Jeremy) and Richard Townsend (Courtney), both of Parsons, Jenny Leitch Fugate (Brian) of Fort Collins, Colorado, T.J. Leitch of Murfreesboro, and Jill Townsend of Nashville; and eleven great grandchildren. The family request in lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church of Parsons, Tennessee. Parson’s Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
