Thomasson, Michael W Jr
We are filled with deep sadness at the sudden passing of Michael Wayne “Mikey” Thomasson on February 20, 2026.
Mikey was a lifelong resident of Hickman County and a proud graduate of Hickman County High School, Class of 1986. Following graduation, he began his career with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, where he worked for several years. He later spent the majority of his professional life serving as an inspector and project manager for various engineering firms. For the past six years, he was employed with Jacobs Engineering Group, where he was respected for his leadership, knowledge, and strong work ethic.
Mikey never met a stranger and formed lasting friendships everywhere he went. Though his time with us was far shorter than anyone expected, his love, laughter, and unforgettable stories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Golf and hunting were among Mikey’s greatest joys. Whether playing 18 holes with Dalton or his Saturday morning golf buddies or spending early mornings in the duck blind sharing laughter, sticky buns, and chasing the ever-elusive “pintail,” he treasured every moment. He also took great pride in coaching Dacy and her girls’ softball team, embracing the role wholeheartedly and creating memories that will be cherished forever.
In recent years, Mikey discovered a love for hiking. Alongside his beloved wife, Julia, he traveled across the country seeking out new trails and bucket-list adventures, always eager for the next journey they could experience together.
Mikey was incredibly proud of his two children, Dacy (fiancé Taylor Dugger) and Dalton (Carlin) Thomasson. He dearly loved his wife of 33 years, Julia, who was his constant companion and greatest supporter. His family was his energy and his light each and every day.
He is also survived by his parents, Wayne and Linda Thomasson; his uncle and cousins whom he considered brothers, Gerald Griffin and Willie Allen; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. His work family and the Saturday morning golf group held a special place in his heart as well.
Mikey’s legacy of kindness, humor, adventure, and devotion to his family will never be forgotten.
Visitation with the family will be 22 Feb 2026 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. – Hickman County. Funeral Services will be 23 Feb 2026 at 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. – Hickman County with burial to follow at Memory Gardens, Centerville, TN.
