Tatum, Jeffrey Douglas
Mr. Jeffrey Douglas Tatum, 50 of Linden, went to Glory on August 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by a host of loving family and friends. Jeff was born on June 17, 1974 to Rita Gale Carroll Tatum and the late Jack Douglas “Doug” Tatum. He graduated from Perry County High School, Class of 1992 and married his high school sweetheart Melissa Dawn Jackson on June 27, 1998.
Jeff earned certificates in Welding and Industrial Maintenance at Tennessee College of Applied Technology, formerly know as TN VO-Tech. After earning his degrees he was employed at Johnson Controls, later know as Fisher & Company as an Industrial Maintenance Technician until 2007. At this time he went to work with Tennessee Gas Pipeline, where he worked until 2012. He then purchased the local garbage business and ran it until 2014. At this time he chose to take a position with the Boy Scouts of America to run the local Boy Scout Camp, known as Grimes Canoe Base. Jeff worked with the BSA until offered as Instructor position at TCAT Hohenwald, where he taught Welding technology and Industrial Maintenance from 2019 until his death.
Jeff was a “Jack of All Trades”, he was very “hands on” and could fix or figure out how to fix anything. There was nothing he couldn’t do. Jeff earned his Electrician License in 2022. Jeff used his electrical knowledge on a daily basis and worked odd electrical jobs within the community. Jeff and Melissa had 2 boys Jackson and Jordan. Jeff had a love for fast cars, big engines and 80’s Rock! He enjoyed fishing the Buffalo River, hunting deer in beautiful Perry County and Hobby Farming. His most favorite thing of late, was large family and friend gatherings that consisted of good food, conversation and lots of love. Jeff was a true and faithful friend to those he loved. Jeff touched many lives with his latest career, inspiring and educating folks from all walks of life.
Jeff was a member of New Life Christian Church.
In addition to his father he is also preceded in death by his grandparents James Claude and Nina Lee Carroll and Clifford and Jack Ruby Tatum and an uncle Anthony Carroll.
Survivors include his wife Melissa Jackson Tatum, sons Jackson Wyatt Tatum and Jordan Douglas Tatum, his mother Gale Carroll Tatum of Linden, a sister Jennifer Tucker of Linden, nephew Hunter (Stacey) Tucker, great-niece Adlynn Tucker, an aunt Sara Lynn (Lonzo) Duncan of Linden, uncles Donald Tatum of Franklin, Kenneth (Jenny) Carroll and Terry (Gwenda) Carroll of Hohenwald and a host of other loving family members and many friends.
