Tanner, Dorothy Roberta
Dorothy Roberta Tanner, age 78, of Hohenwald went to meet the Lord on December 2, 2021. Dorothy was born on September 2, 1943, to the late Sydney Arthur and Minnie Lee Quillen.
She married the late Rollie Ray Tanner at the young age of sixteen. A year later the first of eight children was born. She seemed to always have a baby in tow, whether it be children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren and she loved them with all her heart. She was the most caring and giving person you would ever meet. She always put her family’s needs before her own. Dorothy Tanner was a great mother and a Granny that loved to spoil. Nothing will fill the hole she left behind, but the memories she gave us will last until we all meet again.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Tanner, Ellen (Don) Arledge, Billy (Dana) Tanner, Bonnie (Paul) Zydel, Liz McClain, Nancy (Steven) Curry, Renee (Kevin) Dalton, and Brittany (Travis) Carroll; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way; nine step-grandchildren; brother, Leamon (Margie) Quillen; sisters, Faye (Gene) Kilpatrick, Modeine (William) Dixon, and Jannice Holt; several nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stillborn son, Jason Tanner; brothers, Thomas Quillen and Arthur Quillen; sisters, Marie Hensley, Ruby Talley, Sue Hensley, Veda Qualls, Shirley Thompson, Evelyn Hensley and Eula Quillen.
Services were Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Springer Church of Christ in Hohenwald. Burial followed at Springer Cemetery.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers: Michael Tanner, Andrew Arledge, Shawn Logue, Tanner Logue, Brent McClain, Dalton Edwards, Joshua Francis, Jeremiah Francis, Brady Johns, Austin Staggs, Levi Carroll and Lochlan Dalton.
