Talley, Lura Faye
Lura Faye Talley passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on November 13, 1940, in Hohenwald, Tennessee to the late Joe Edward Long and Ila Elizabeth DePriest Long.
Lura was a woman of dedication, love, and unwavering faith. A long-time Summertown Church of Christ member, she lived her beliefs through her actions and words, touching the lives of all who knew her. Lura was not only strong in her faith but also in her life. She never complained, no matter the challenges that she or her family faced.
Her marriage to her beloved Eddie was a beautiful partnership that would have celebrated its 60th anniversary in May, a sign of their endless love for each other. During their marriage, they found joy in spending time together, traveling, and creating memories that Eddie will cherish forever.
Lura made a career working for the State of Tennessee in the Department of Human Services. In her retirement, Lura found joy and purpose as a volunteer librarian. She was an excellent seamstress; she made not just clothing but also memories.
Lura’s strength was not just in her faith but in her role as a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the glue that held her family together. The most important things to Lura were faith, family, friends, and the Summertown Eagles sports. Lura rarely missed a game. Even while in the hospital, her daughters made sure she could watch the game on YouTube. Her grandchildren, who inherited her love for sports, always knew they could count on their grandmother to be there, watching and supporting them, no matter the circumstance.
In addition to her parents, Ed and Ila Long, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Joe Long.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Clarence Eddie Talley; her daughters, Jana Faye (Brian) Long and Holly Lynn (David) Winters; grandchildren, Beth (Jeremy) Jean, Wes (Lauren) Long, Briar (Raci) Pierce, and Lindsay (Chris) Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Cooper Jean, Hallie Jean, Barrett Pierce, Turner Pierce, Taylor Maxwell, Landon Maxwell, and one on-the-way, Hudson Long; sister-in-law, Freddie Modrall; and special niece, Kara Farr; as well as, her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
