Talbert, Helen Louise
Helen Louise Goodman Talbert, a matriarch of love and gentleness, passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 79 in Nashville, Tennessee. Born in Lebanon, Tennessee on December 10, 1945, to the late Charles Melvin and Mary Helen Watson Goodman, Helen’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of creating lasting memories with loved ones.
Helen was the cherished wife of the late Charles Talbert, and together they built a life rich with love and laughter. She was a loving mother to her daughters Patricia Louise Jackson (Stan), Charlette Diane McClain (Jim), and Shirley Jean Hinson. Her loving spirit extended to her siblings Barbara Allison (Leonard), Jean Smith, and Ricky Goodman, as well as to her late brother, Douglas Goodman.
A dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant, Helen’s care for others transcended her professional life and was deeply felt within her community. Her warm heart and gentle hands brought comfort to many throughout her career.
Helen’s zest for life shone brightest when she was embarking on adventures with her family. Whether it was traveling to new destinations or simply spending precious time with her grandchildren, each moment was an opportunity to make unforgettable memories. Her grandchildren, Rachel Dodson (Jimbo), Stephanie Dodson (Brett), Tasha Spencer (Kaleb), Bethany McClain (Brandon), Amanda Stooksberry, Chris Lomax (Maci), Corey Carroll (Kristy), Constance Clayton (Chad), and Andrea Smith (Shaun), were the joy of her life. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson Charlie Morgan.
Her legacy continued to flourish through her great-grandchildren Dayton Reynolds (Ally), Kaylie Bowen (Blake), Oaklynn Dodson, Makaela Dodson, Briley Dodson, Slate Dodson, Landon Smith, Levi Smith, Emily McClain, Jameson McClain, Branson McClain, Chevy McClain, Addi Sims, Amari Jones, Morgan Spencer, Aiden Spencer, Oakley McClain, Aubry McClain, McKenna Ola, Charlie McClain, Branson Stooksberry, Keegan Clayton, Presley Clayton, Gunner Franks, Hunter Carroll, and Caz Lomax. Helen also had the joy of meeting her great-great-grandchildren Luka Reynolds, Haze Reynolds, and Blaine Bowen, who will grow up hearing tales of their remarkable great-great-grandmother.
Helen’s ability to listen with an open heart and offer wisdom with a soft voice made her a pillar in the lives of those she touched. Her love was a guiding force, and her kindness a legacy that will ripple through generations.
Visitation with family and friends will be held in the chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services on Sunday March 30, 2025, from 10:00-2:00. The service will begin at 2:00 pm with Brother Jeff Gandy officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memorial Gardens.
