John Hershel Stephens died Thursday, September 11, 2003, at Perry Community Hospital in Linden. He was 91. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday [October 13, 2003] at 2:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel. Elder Garland Broadway will officiate. Burial will follow in the Downey cemetery. Survivors include his wife Elsie Mae Stephens, two sons, John and Willie E. Stephens of Linden, one daughter, Melia Oneda Smith of Waynesboro. Also two sisters, Lela Quillen and Ezora Reeves of Hohenwald. Also eleven grandchildren , sixteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
