Staggs, Theo Theron
Mr. Theo Theron Staggs, age 85, a resident of Old TVA Road in Columbia, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens in Hohenwald. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on June 26, 1936, in Hohenwald, Theo was the son of the late Ester Staggs and the late Lerue Johnson Staggs. He worked a total of twenty years for the County and City of Hohenwald before retiring in 1996. He married Ruby Jewell Staggs on October 14, 1961; she preceded him in death on November 5, 1994. He later married Dorothy Clayton Staggs on May 12, 1995; she preceded him in death on December 23, 2018. He enjoyed watching westerns and listening to gospel music. A true outdoorsman, he was a hard worker and loved working outside. He had a very special place in his heart for children and animals. Theo was a member of Freedom Holy Temple Church and rededicated his life to Christ and got baptized in 2015.
He is survived by his children, Carla Staggs (Delano) Duke of Hohenwald, Tina Staggs Holt of Columbia, Kathleen (Daniel) Alderson of Santa Fe, Reita (Junior) Luna of Santa Fe, Stephen (Becky) Jones of Lynnville, Brian (Beth) Jones of Lynnville, Marsha (Mike) Brown of Columbia, brother, Charles David (Song) Staggs of Clarksville, sisters, Una Gail (Bill) Johnston of Florida, Betty Jewell (JB) DePriest of Lebanon, grandchildren, Jeremy (Devin Lee) Duke, Kevin Duke, Quandrees Holt, Brenda Schmitz, Kayla (Andrew) Lemay, Hope (Clint) Holden, Heather Hill, Brittany (Dylan) Birdwell, Elijah Jones, Austin (Audriana) Jones, Chelsea Brown, Cassidi (Calvin) Nolen, Meghan (Keith) Bennett, Emily (Chris) Lindsey, Christian Roberts, eleven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lono Staggs, and sisters, Ginger Staggs Quillen and Jody Staggs Lawson.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Duke, Kevin Duke, Delano Duke, Quandrees Holt, Elijah Jones, Jackson Schmitz, Christian Roberts, and Austin Jones. Honorary pallbearers will include Dr. Richard Kennedy and his staff, Mary Taylor, nurses with Avalon Hospice: Abby, Chelsea, Heather, and Laurie, the City of Hohenwald employees, and Pastor Glen and Angela Floyd.
