Spetz, Gregory Kent
Mr. Gregory Kent Spetz, of Summertown, passed away on the evening of January 30, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born on February 18, 1948, in Chicago, IL to the late Clifford Andoh Spetz & Constance Elizabeth Sifrit.
Originally from Portage, Indiana, he and his wife Kathy Spetz moved to Summertown in 2017 to be closer to their daughter & husband Kristi & Fred Crowe. Prior to moving to Summertown, Mr. Spetz spent 29 1/2 years in law enforcement, retiring from the service in 2000. After retirement he and his wife became full-time RV’ers, traveling the country for the next 9 1/2 years. His goal while RV’ing was to follow the 70-degree temperature line as closely as possible. Summers would be spent in the upper Michigan peninsula and winters would be spent in Fredericksburg, TX. He was a groundskeeper at Whitefish Point Lighthouse in Paradise, MI, a deckhand on Soo Locks boat tours in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and a licensed pilot who loved flying. He loved camping and traveling, and thanks to his passion for this his daughter has been able to visit 48 states.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Spetz of Summertown, Daughter, Kristi Crowe of Summertown, Brother, Clark (Shirley) Spetz of Cedar Park, TX, Sister, Margie (Don) VanVliet of Palm Coast, FL, Grandson, Kevin (Ryan) Crowe, Nephew, (Major) Nick (Pam) Parsai and great-niece & nephews, Anastasia & Lucius of Louisville, KY. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Fred Crowe.
Services will be conducted on Monday, February 7, 2022 beginning at 11:00 AM at the Gordonsburg Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Gordonsburg Church of Christ Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN, where he will be laid to rest next to his son-in-law.
