Mary Ruth Spears, 316 Sycamore Avenue, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 at St. Thomas Hospital after an extended illness. The funeral was held Saturday, August 3 at 11:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home with Elvis Williams, Minister of Flatrock Church of Christ, and Bill Webb of Blondy Church of God, officiating. Burial was in the Springer Cemetery. Mrs. Spears was the daughter of the late Harrison and Anne Belle Hinson. She had been formerly employed at Genesco for 35 years. She is survived by her husband, Houston Spears of Hohenwald, two sons, Rickey (Lydia) Spears and John (Debbie) Spears of Hohenwald; a daughter, Linda Kaye (Wayne) Tatum of Hohenwald; a brother, Luther Allen Hinson of Hohenwald; two sisters, Juanita Jones and Charlene Carroll of Hohenwald; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
