Smith, Beonka Denise
Beonka Denise Smith, known as BB to those who loved her, was a young lady of joy in the lives of all who knew her. Born on July 8, 2009, in Columbia, Tennessee, BB’s vibrant spirit and infectious smile became a cherished presence in her community. On August 27, 2025, at the tender age of 16, BB’s light ceased to shine in Hampshire, Tennessee, leaving behind love and laughter that will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends.
BB was the beloved daughter of Harold Smith Jr. and Keshawnda Denise Lee. She grew up surrounded by the love and support of her siblings Arionnah, Jalen, Nikitta, and La’Taveious, who will forever remember her as the heart of their family. BB’s joyful spirit extended to her nieces, Berkley Mae Smith and A’Kyla Myorie, who adored their aunt. Her grandparents, Doris Brewer, Harold Smith Sr., and Cardlet Ellison, passed down to her the values of kindness and compassion, which she carried with her throughout her everyday life.
BB’s life was one of loving nature and her ability to form deep connections with those around her. Her special bond with Jerry Baugh and his family was a true reflection of her capacity to be considered one of their own
A rising star at Columbia Central High School, BB had just embarked on her 10th-grade year with the same enthusiasm and dedication she applied to everything she put her mind to. Her academic journey was marked by her larger-than-life personality and her eagerness to engage with her peers and teachers alike.
BB’s work as a hostess at the local restaurant, the Sandtrap in Hohenwald, allowed her to extend her warm hospitality to the wider community. Her presence at the restaurant was not just about sitting families at their tables but about making everyone feel welcomed and valued.
An avid member of the Columbia Central Lady Lions Basketball team, BB’s passion for the sport was evident in her commitment and teamwork. Beyond the court, she relished the simple pleasures of life, such as hanging out with friends, exploring new eateries, and indulging in her favorite chocolate Krispy Kreme donuts. Her love for Air Jordan shoes was more than a fashion statement; it was a reflection of her spirited and lively approach to life.
BB’s big personality and even bigger heart touched everyone she met. She was known for her loving nature, her sense of humor that could uplift any spirit, and a soul that was as caring and loving as they come.
The visitation for BB was on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Blondy Church from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. Following the service, BB was laid to rest at Swiss Cemetery.
