Sims, James Warren
James “Jimmy” Warren Sims was born January 14, 1950 in Lewis County to the late John Turner and Ruby Pauline Melson Sims. He was united in marriage to the former Anita Louise Whitehead on March 19, 1971.
Mr. Jimmy was a member of Williams Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, an active member of the Collinwood Senior Citizens Center where he was a volunteer food delivery driver, and an active volunteer at the Wayne County Welcome Center in Collinwood. He worked for Tee Jays Manufacturing in Florence, Alabama, and in his spare time enjoyed going to races, doing yardwork, going to gospel singings and any local revivals.
Mr. Sims departed this life for his heavenly home on June 16, 2023 in Florence, Alabama, making his stay in this life some 73 years 5 months and 3 days.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anita Louise Whitehead Sims of Collinwood; a daughter, Sandra Green and husband Jeff of Collinwood; a son, Ronnie Sims and wife April of Florence; two brothers, Bobby Sims and wife Angie of Memphis, Tennessee; Vic Sims and wife Carole of Hohenwald; three grandchildren, Matt James and wife Kristin; Maggie Scott and husband Kyle and Eli Sims; five great-granddaughters Ella Scott, Maddie Kate James, Saylor Scott, Calvary Scott, and Macyn James.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Stateline Church in Iron City, Tennessee, with Camryn Eaton, Greg Stults and Bradley Hipps officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
