Shepherd, Grace Capps
In fond remembrance of Grace Capps Shepherd, age 86, of Lyles, Tennessee who peacefully departed this world on January 23, 2024. Grace was born at home on Hassell Creek in Lyles, Tennessee to the late Glenice B. Capps and Pearline Martin Capps on March 10, 1937.
After High School, Grace went to work at Genesco and later retired from Levi’s after putting in 30+ years of dedicated service. Her love for gardening was a testament to her nurturing spirit. The blooms of her garden stood as a living tribute to her patient hands and loving heart. Grace loved the little feathered visitors who came to her porch and thrived in her garden. It was a fond pass time for her. Traveling was also a great passion of hers throughout the years and loving her little dog “Tucker”.
Grace was a pillar of strength whose heart was a boundless reservoir of love for her family, grandkids and great grandkids. Her life was a symphony of warmth and care, a testament to the profound bonds she nurtured. She found purpose in the laughter and joy of her family. Her love knew no bounds. From the shared family meals to the quiet moments of togetherness, she created a home filled with love. Grace was always present at the grandkid’s games or whatever they asked to attend. Her unwavering support and joyous cheers created lasting memories, symbolizing the deep love she held for her family.
In addition to her parents, Grace is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gary Hager Shepherd, sons, Darryl Brady and Greg Brady, and her siblings, brother Elmer Capps, sister Aileen Littleton, sister Maggie Littleton, sister Peggy Rollins, sister Edith Rochelle, brother James Capps and brother Jackie Capps.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her loving memory are her son Jason (Chris) Ragsdale of Primm Springs, Tennessee, stepson Rodney (Nikki) Shepherd of Charlotte, Tennessee, stepdaughter Kimberley Karnes of Burns, Tennessee, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. May the warmth of those shared moments continue to resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
