William Earl “Billy” Self was born in Lawrenceburg, on June 1, 1956 to his parents the late Mr. Terrell Self and Mrs. Adell Blackwood Stephenson. Mr. Self spent his formative years growing up in the natural beauty of Tennessee and developed a deep love for the outdoors.

Those who knew him best will remember him as a strong, passionate, loving husband, sibling and friend. Mr. William Earl Self passed from this life on July 30, 2025 at his home surrounded by family making his stay on this earth some 69 years, 1 month and 29 days.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 31 years Gladys Joyce Martin Self of Hohenwald, children Brent Self and wife Sarah of Apache Junction, Arizona, Brian Self and wife Katrina of Emon Valley, Pennsylvania, Christy Butler and husband William of Lawrenceburg, and Whitney Worden of Hagerstown, Missouri; siblings Wendal Self and wife Maryln of Lawrenceburg, Wand Tolle and husband Steve of Waynesboro, Randy Self and wife Tina of Wayne County, Rita Long and husband Scott of Lawrenceburg, Rhonda Long and husband Tony of Waynesboro, Stephine Self and husband A.J. of Lawrenceburg, and Anita Rubbert and husband Donald of Summertown, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as many other family, friends and dear loved ones.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Winford Self and Ralph Self; sister Catherine Self.

Graveside Services were held Saturday August 2, 2025 at the Highland Methodist Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, with Steve Seaton officiating.
