James Thomas (J.T., Tom) Runions Sr. was born the 19 February 1944 as the 5th of 12 children of Malcom Patterson and Margie Carroll Runions.

J.T. was married to Marcia Blackwell Runions on 17 August 1963. They have five children: Shari Runions Jones (Mark), James T Runions Jr (Brenda), Melody Runions Hankins (Greg), Marshall Runions (Elisa), and Raymond Runions (Stephanie).  J.T. and Marcia have 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

J.T. Runions owned and operated Runions Backhoe Service which he founded in 1976 and worked for 41 years until his health would no longer allow it in 2017.

J.T. Runions was widely regarded in the Hohenwald and surrounding communities as an honest and hardworking businessman. J.T. never met a stranger and greeted everyone with the same warm smile.

J.T. is survived by his siblings, Wayne “WC” JoAnn Runions, TR (Mona) Runions, Neva Jane Runions, Harry Runions, Russell (Vera) Runions, Darlene McDonald, Dan (Bonnie) Runions, Bill (Elaine) Runions, and Diana Runions.

J.T. is preceded in death by His parents, Malcolm and Margie Runions, and siblings, Malcolm Franklin (Bud) Runions and Charles (Chuck) Runions, brother-in-law, Cordell McDonald, husband of Darlene, and sister-in-law, Gayle Runions, wife of Harry.

Visitation with the family will be held at the Pineview Church of Christ on Monday 31 Aug 2020 from 4:30 PM until 7:30 PM.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, 1 Sep 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Pineview Church of Christ with Mark McDonald officiating. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to service time.  Burial will be in the Springer Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN.
