Donald Hancock Richter, 80, died February 20, 2011, in Port Richey, Florida. At his request a memorial service was to be held on the water in Florida. Don was born December 7, 1930, in Rahway, New Jersey to Paul and Ruth Richter. Don had many friends in Hohenwald who were very supportive through his illness prior to moving to Florida in January 2011. Don served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict on a Mine Sweeper. He spent most of his tour in the Mediterranean. Don had a great love of Florida and lived many years in West Palm Beach with his wife, Barbara Decker Richter, until her death. Don and Barbara traveled all over the world together. Don moved to Hohenwald after his wife’s passing. He is survived by two sons, David and Mark Richter of Brick, New Jersey; one sister, Helen Wick of Norwalk, Connecticut; four nephews, Jeff Hall, Steve Hall, Bob Richter, and Ted Richter; and three nieces, Megan Kosior, Meri Wick, and Karen Chappell; and many great nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by brother Hedding Richter; daughter, Diane (stillborn); son, Michael Richter (age 15); wife, Barbara Decker Richter; and parents, Paul and Ruth Richter.
