Earl Kenneth Reed, better known as “Hoss,” passed away on January 6, 2025, at Lewis Park. He was born on September 7, 1942, in Huntland, Tennessee, to the late Earl Frances Reed and Ruby Kathleen Hall Reed.

Hoss was a treasured soul who took immense pleasure in life’s simplest joys. Hoss’s happiest moments were those spent around the dinner table on Sundays. A man of simple pleasures, he found great joy watching his favorite TV shows and films. His friends and family often gift him movies for birthdays and holidays, creating quite a collection. He spent a lot of time working on the farm. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Earl and Ruby, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Emmett Reed; sister, Francis Morich; and his brother-in-law, Charles McCalip.

He is survived by his brother, Eddie Reed; his sister, Lavonne McCalip; his sister-in-law, Brenda Reed; his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In keeping with Hoss’s no-fuss lifestyle, he will be laid to rest in Swiss Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN, beside his mother, on Thursday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
