Ragsdale III, Elton M.
A beloved soul was called home. Elton Maxwell Ragsdale III, age 57, passed on August 18, 2022 at his home in Columbia. He was surrounded with love by his wife and children when he departed to join his heavenly father.
He was born December 3, 1964 in Maury County, Tennessee, to Elton Maxwell Ragsdale Jr. and Gladys Beatrice Wright Ragsdale. Peanut attended Mt. Pleasant High School. His fondest memories were playing practical jokes, fishing, and being with friends and family. He enjoyed watching Nascar, wrestling, Atlanta Braves baseball and Alabama football.
Peanut enjoyed working for the City of Spring Hill for many years along with serving as an operator for a subcontractor for ATT with underground construction.
His pride and joy was raising his children. He took them fishing, camping, played cards and was quite the pool shark where he always boasted to his children to get them riled up. His grandchildren, who he would do anything for, were the sparkle in his eyes. He enjoyed playing cards with them and bragging on all his winnings when he got one over on the grandkids on rare occasions.
His loved ones that he left behind are wife, Virginia Ragsdale of Columbia; son, Jeremiah Ragsdale of Mt. Pleasant; and daughters, Katherine (Rick) Hall of Hohenwald, and Krystin Ragsdale of Rapid City, South Dakota; sister, Alisa Ragsdale Adams; brother, Jeffrey Ragsdale Sr. (Martha); uncle, William Ragsdale (Frances); and aunts, Judy Ragsdale Wyatt, Barbara Ragsdale Holder, John (Jessica) Emler and Michael (Tammy) Emler.
His grandchildren who were his pride and joy are: Matthew Ragsdale, Noah Ragsdale, Gracie Ragsdale, Edann Ragsdale, Ciara Ragsdale, Eli Fitzgerald, JP Montgomery, Trenton Claypool, Datin Claypool, Brandon Hall, Bentley Hall, Bradley Hall and Hayden Gordon. He had numerous nieces and nephews who always brought a smile to his face. We cannot forget his partners-in-arm, his friends, Terry and Wendy Young, Howard and Holly Overstreet, Jimmy Bradley, Tina Holt, Steve Witsell, Jackie Glenn, Grayson Young and many others.
Peanut is being greeted in heaven by his parents, Elton Ragsdale Jr. and Gladys Hinson; brother, Alan Ragsdale, and brother-in-law, Billy Harvill.
A service for Peanut was held Sunday, August 21, at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Brother Randy Kersey officiating. Peanut was laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery.
