Qualls, Wayne “Sonny”
Wayne “Sonny” Qualls 72 of Pleasantville, Tennessee, passed away suddenly at his home on July 26, 2025.
Born in Centerville, Tennessee on February 2, 1953, to the late Arthur and Sammie Dot (Hutchison) Qualls.
Wayne, or as he was known by most of his friends, “Sonny”, joined the Tennessee National Guard in 1970 at the age of 17. He continued his career with the Tennessee National Guard until his retirement as Work Leader of 771st Maintenance Company and Senior Maintenance Control NCO in 2013.
While he had many things he enjoyed throughout his life, one of his favorites was when he was elected in August of 1988 as Constable of the 10th District in Hickman County. He continued his role as Constable of the 10th District along with his role working for the Hickman County Sheriff’s Department within the Justice System until his recent death.
Along with his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother Johnny Qualls. Wayne is survived by his wife of 53 years Martha (Cook) Qualls. Son Bryan (Lisa) Qualls of Cornersville. Daughter Christy (Tim) Skelton of Columbia. Grandchildren Adam (Maddy) Qualls, Riley Qualls, Emma Skelton, and Aarron Qualls. Uncle Bernard Qualls, Aunts Dora Ann Bates and Norma Whitehead. He also leaves behind his beloved pets Bob, Odie, and Buddy.
Visitation with family will be held Wednesday July 30, 2025, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 31, 2025 beginning at 2:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home with burial to follow at Beechgrove Cemetery, Pleasantville, TN, with full military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Adam Qualls, Riley Qualls, Aaron Qualls, Kyle Orman, Phillip Allen, and Patrick Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be those he served with in the Tennessee National Guard along with those he has served with working with the Hickman County Sheriff’s Department.
