Potts, Peggy Ann
Peggy Ann Talley Potts, age 73, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 17, 2024. Peggy was born at Lee’s Lake in Hohenwald, Tennessee on November 3, 1950. She is survived by her husband Billy Gene Potts, daughters Coral (David) Potts, Brande (Hugh) Smith, grandchildren Taylor (Drew) Wright, Maddie Smith, Hueston (Debra Warren) Smith, David Chance Potts, Micah Potts, and great-granddaughter Kylie Butler. Surviving siblings are Marion Sloan, Fred (Karen) Talley, and Carmie (Jerry) Floyd, and sister-in-law Shirley Speakman as well as many, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Claygett and Helen Talley, brothers Dwayne Talley, Donnie Talley, and Charles Talley, sisters Margaret Bullion, Wanda Epley, and Brenda Helentjaris.
Peggy loved her family dearly and they all loved her as well. She had a servant’s heart. She was very active in her church and community serving as a Sunday School teacher, Children’s Church nursery ministry, and youth basketball and softball coach. She worked as a Head Start Teacher, Lewis Co School substitute teacher, at Henry I Siegel Co., and Dana Corp.
Peggy loved spending time with family and serving in the church. Her hobbies and interests included sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, collecting antiques, and creating art and ceramics. She loved family gatherings, travel, and having adventures with her brothers and sisters.
Peggy battled Parkinson’s Disease for 30 years which made it difficult to do the things she loved especially these past few years but her faith in God always remained strong. Peggy was a blessing to all who knew her. She will be truly missed by her family and friends, and especially Billy, who loved her dearly. Billy and Peggy recently celebrated 50 years of marriage in October 2023 at Biltmore Estate, North Carolina, one of their special places to visit.
Visitation with family and friends will be held Tuesday March 19, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Blondy Church. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday March 20, 2024, with Brother Bill Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Talley Cemetery.
