The beautiful life of Maggie Sue Pigg came to a close on June 30, 2022, at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Maggie Sue Pigg was born on January 11, 1944, in Fort Cooper in Hickman County, Tennessee to the late James S. Gordon, Sr., and Bessie Dobbins. Maggie Sue attended O.H. Bernard School in Centerville where she later graduated in 1961. While at O.H. Bernard, she sang in the choir.
Maggie Sue accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at the Columbia Avenue Church of Christ, where she was faithful if her health allowed her. She believed that no matter what JESUS WOULD FIX IT AFTER WHILE!
She was employed at Genesco for 20+ years in Centerville. She worked there until her health started declining.
Maggie Sue is preceded in death by her father, James S. Gordon (Mary), mother, Bessie Dobbins, son, Raleigh Lee Goodman Jr., sisters, Martha Ann Dansby and Elizabeth Ann Williams, brothers, James Allen Dansby, Adonis “Red” Gordon, Emanuel Wayne Dansby, Phillip Gordon, and Dennis Gordon.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children: sons, Sidney (fiance, Kimberly Erikson) Pigg and Barry (wife, Jenelle) Pigg, Daughter Jacqueline (Pigg) Okoli . Also, the remaining siblings: sisters, Ernestine Dansby and Donna Faye Brown, and brothers James Swoop Gordon and Michael Brown.
Grandchildren: Cirea Thomas (Kevin Hawley), Joshua (Wife, Elita) Pigg, Travon (wife, Jennifer) Pigg, Porschia Major, Naya (husband, Gerald) Harvill, Auston (late wife, Chelsey) Pigg, Bralon (wife, Emilee) Pigg, Timothy Pigg, and Destiny and Diamond Pigg.
Great Grandchildren: Kiara Pigg, Kiauana Hawley, Chloe Hawley, D.J. Ray, Zackery Ballantine, Jr., Joshua Pigg, Aaleyah Hawley, Caleb Pigg, Brooklyn Hawley, Dreama Hickman, Gracelynn Pigg, Damon Pigg, Spencer PIgg, Ja’Michael Pigg, Auggie Pigg, and D.W. Harvill.
Extended Family: Elaine Goodman, Daniela Lacey, Stan Parram, Pixie Parram, and Calan Charles Parram-Wade.
Special Thanks: To Mom’s faithful cousin, Faye Fowlkes, who was always in her corner. Archie-Ball, for helping out any time mom asked. Betty Jane, her caregiver. Mable Scates and Annie McLearn for taking her back and forth to her doctor’s check-ups.
Visitation with the family will be July 8, 2022 from 6:00 – to 9:00 PM and July 9, 2022 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. . Funeral services wll be July 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
