Pasold, Darin D
When one sits and thinks about a true angel in the community, most wouldn’t hesitate to think of Darin Pasold. He gave everything he had to our small community in his short time here. On November 27, 2021, his work here was done, and he left our earthly world. He was born on August 7, 1969, in Chadron, Nebraska to Mr. Dean Arthur Pasold and the late Catherine Jean Bernhardt Pasold. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents Mimi Schlecht and Lois and Jerry McKerrigan.
Darin began his lifelong career and passion at the young age of 16 when he became a junior firefighter. He would then branch out to becoming a stretcher firefighter in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and then to wild land firefighter for the national park services before settling with his now brothers the Hohenwald Fire Department. There was nothing he enjoyed more than helping the community of Hohenwald. His bigger than life personality and witty humor made gray skies blue and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
He became involved in Christmas in Hohenwald and could be seen giving the families rides around town on the Christmas Train. He had a love for trains and one side hobby was building model trains and planes in his spare time.
Some may not know but Darin was a fanatic for the Battle of Little Big Horn and could be found with his family doing civil war reenactments throughout many different states. When not on the battlefields he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his son Grant race. He was a friend that you never had to question and knew he would be there anytime you needed him.
In addition to his father, Darin leaves behind to cherish the legacy he has left, his wife Kessta Swinea Pasold; children Ansley Pasold (Oakley Johns), Grant Pasold, Briane Werner, Noah and Aubrey Barnes, and Lakota Prentice; his sister Amber (Mike) Zimmerman; and his grand dog Dexter Rosco Pasold Johns. He also leaves behind a family of the heart Terry and Bev Jacobson; special friends Kare (Rob) Menacher and Stephen (Sarah) Lyell and family; the mother of his children and friend Jan Pasold; and all his Hohenwald Fire Department Brothers.
Visitation with family and friends will be at First Baptist Church Hohenwald on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 4:00 – 9:00 pm and again Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 10:00 until time of service at 12:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Downey Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN, with Brother Bert Spann officiating.

Wonderful funeral and procession for much loved Hohenwald Fireman Darin Pasold this past week
To those who knew twenty year veteran Hohenwald Fireman Darin Pasold they would be the first to tell you that he had many sides of him that came to make up his character and even his career. First and foremost he was a wonderful family man. But many would not know he was a fanatic for the history of the Little Big Horn and took part in many reenactments around the country. Apart from working on the City Train each Christmas with his wife Kessta, taking hundreds of families on tours of Hohenwald, he had a great love for trains and was quite an expert across the country with his knowledge of trains and engines.
He started as a Junior Firefighter at the age of 16, he then went on to become a structure firefighter, then a firefighter for the National Park Service before coming to Hohenwald with his brothers where he served with Hohenwald Fire Service for close to twenty years.
His contribution to Hohenwald will be sadly missed. He was involved for many years helping his daughter Ansley with softball and his son Grant with racing in motocross. He also loved fishing with Noah and aggravating Aubrey. In fact he was involved with so many things that there is not enough room to name them all. But there was nothing he liked doing more than being with his family and aggravating people.
The procession after the funeral at First Baptist Church was long, not just family, friends and firefighters, but many fire engines, ambulances and crews. His final journey was on one of his favorite trains, The Lewis and Clarke Express train, that he drove so many times.
Pallbearers lined the casket that was on one of the small carriages at the back of the train. The route took him through town and passed the Police Station to Memorial Park for the Christmas light display.
Rest in peace Darin. You have certainly served your town and the community well over the past two decades and more, and for that we are truly grateful.
