Parsley, Imogene
Imogene Rasbury Parsley, age 92, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away November 23, 2018. Jean, as she was known to all, was born in Kutch Hollow, Wayne County, Tennessee to Clyde and Marie Graves Rasbury.
After growing up and attending school in Wayne County, Jean graduated from Martin Methodist Junior College and from Tennessee Tech with a BS in mathematics. Jean worked as a saleslady in O’Neill’s Department store, in the Goodrich Rubber Factory in Akron, Ohio, for Genesco Shoe Factory in Hohenwald, TN, as a file clerk for the FBI in Washington, DC, and as a school teacher for the Dekalb and Wayne County Schools Systems. She met her husband, Warren Parsley, while at Tennessee Tech. They were married in 1953 in the Hohenwald Methodist Church. They settled in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where Jean worked as a computer programmer for Union Carbide for 30 years. She and Warren only had 43 years together but they were great years.
She was a member of Kerns United Methodist Church. In her retirement, Jean kept busy with her genealogy, traveling and enjoying the good life as she put it. The good life for Jean included lots of time with her two sisters. They took many trips together across the US and to Europe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Burton Parsley, her brother, Clyde Edward Rasbury, her sister, Katherine Rasbury Fancher and brother-in-law, Alton Weldon.
She is survived by her sister, Willodean Rasbury Weldon, her brother, Thomas Rankin Rasbury and his wife Melba, brother-in-law, Harry Fancher, her nephews, Stephen, Michael and Donald Weldon, Gary Fancher, Eddie Rasbury and Dennis, Gary and Donald Wusher, nieces, Karen Rasbury Nicholson, Patricia Turnbow and Lynn Fancher Clemmons as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Stephen Weldon, Michael Weldon, Donald Weldon, Gary Fancher, Dennis Wusher and Eddie Rasbury.
