Overbey, Judy Dean
Judy Dean Hines Overbey peacefully passed away on August 7, 2025, with her devoted husband and beloved dogs by her side. She was born January 8, 1945, in Maury County, Tennessee, to the late John Henry Hines and Minnie Garner Hines.
A faithful member of Springer Church of Christ, Judy lived her life guided by compassion, humility, and love for others. Her faith was reflected in the way she treated everyone she met-with warmth and respect.
Judy found joy in the simple pleasures of life: spending time outdoors, reading, and being surrounded by nature. Her love for animals knew no bounds-she rescued and cared for countless creatures over the years, offering a home and a heart to those in need.
Above all, Judy was a loving and dedicated mother, a loyal wife, and a treasured friend. Her family and friends were blessed by her warmth, her wisdom, and the way she made everyone feel seen and loved.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Hines and Reba (Liburn) Carpenter.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, William Overbey; her children, Michael Overbey, Phillip (Tina) Overbey, and Sharon (Eric) Holt; her brother, Jerry (Janet) Hines; her sisters-in-law, Sally Overbey and Sharon Hines; her grandchildren, Jerrid (Kaylee) Ashmore and Allison (Andrew) Brewer; her step-grandchildren, Bobby Taylor, Bryant Gidcomb, and Corey Gidcomb; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10 at Springer Cemetery to honor and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the High Forest Humane Society, in memory of Judy’s lifelong dedication to animals and their well-being.
McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Overbey family.
