Murray, Thelma Louise
Louise (her preferred name) was born in Hickman County, Tennessee, to William and Cleo Hinson and grew up in Pleasantville.
At age 17, Louise married John Eli Murray and they moved to Wyandotte, Michigan. Following John’s retirement from Great Lakes Steel, they returned to Hickman County. Nine years after John’s death, she relocated in 2003 to South Lyon, Michigan.
Louise never met a craft she didn’t like and was known for her beautiful quilts and crochet work which she gifted generously. Known as “Granny” to one and all, Louise’s chosen family extended far beyond her biological kin. She served faithfully as a member of the Church of Christ wherever she lived.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, her sisters Naomi Parnell, Ann Gilliam and Carolyn Hinson, and her son, Michael Murray.
She is survived by daughter, Wanda Moon, brothers Kerry and Gerry Hinson, granddaughters Amanda Clark and Sara Scott, grandson Alex LaFeve, and great granddaughters Gabrielle and Amber Clark.
Visitation at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville will be Monday, May 20, 4:00-6:30 PM followed by a memorial service. Interment of her ashes will be Tuesday, May 21, 10:00 AM in the Edwards Cemetery in Farmers Exchange.
