Moore, Portia Lynn
Portia (Poke) Lynn Moore, 78, of Pleasant View, and formerly Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in her home on December 6th with family by her side. Portia was born at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, to Finous Montgomery Holt and Jean (Yates) Holt.
She was raised in Hohenwald and Liberty Grove, Tennessee, and graduated from Loretto High School.
After graduating, she moved to California where she met Roger Moore, the love of her life. After marrying, they moved to Wisconsin in 1972 where she raised her family. Portia worked at the VA Hospital in Tomah until she retired in 2003. Portia then moved back to Pleasant View, to be around family.
She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and sister. Portia loved to cook and we will all miss that dearly. Her other interests were gardening {she liked digging in the dirt}, planting flowers, going to family reunions, yard-saling, and renovating her old farmhouse to make it her comfort place.
Portia’s greatest joy was her family. The stories she told while sitting on the porch gave the family a window into the past and many laughs as well. She was a smart woman and one of the most frugal people on this planet. Although her passing will leave us with a hole in our hearts, we will always remember her kindness, generosity, and love.
Portia’s faith had a strong hold on her life. In her last days, she prayed to be home and move on to heaven. She was able to do that with family by her side just as she wished.
Portia was survived by her sisters Deb (Steve ) Beckman, Connie White, and Sherry (Buck) Thorton. She had two sons, Monty {Sherry Bowman} Moore and Skeez {Heather} Moore, and 4 grandkids, Myranda Lynn Moore, Maximillian Len Moore, Dane Ellis Moore, and Kylee Jordan Moore, 3 cats Buttercup, Precious, and Shadow as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Tony Holt and Mike White, her sister Beck Murks, and her parents, Finous and Jean Holt.
McDonald Funeral Home is honored to serving the Moore family.
Burial was in Grinders Creek Cemetery Hohenwald.
