Sarah Ruth Sanders Mills, 77, homemaker and resident of Gray Circle, Columbia, died Monday, August 12, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Vassar officiating. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Huntsville, Alabama. Memorials may be made to Hopewell Reformed Presbyterian Church, the American Cancer Society or Pleasant Heights Baptist Church Building Fund. Mrs. Mills, a native of Madison County, Alabama, was the daughter of the late Franklin Pierce and Emma Lee Roberts Sanders. Mrs. Mills attended Pleasant Height Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Shotwell of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Kyla (John Boyd) Cothran of McCains Community; Tanya (Bobby) McCormick of Cornersville; one son, John David (Jan) Mills of Hohenwald; one sister, Naomi Rider of Indianapolis, Indiana; ten grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Mills.
