Miceli, Maria
Maria Miceli, beloved sister of Deborah McClellan, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday August 22, 2025.
Maria was raised in the Stapleton neighborhood of Staten Island. She attended St. John the Baptist de la Salle Catholic Grammar School and Curtis High School. She worked at the DiMarzio Guitar plant for many years. She found great joy in crafting and decorating, and her creativity and skill shone through in every project she touched. Throughout her life she enjoyed many return visits to Staten Island to spend time with friends and family.
Maria relocated to Mill Valley, CA where she lived for over 20 years. She had a deep love for her neighborhood and took pride in being part of its close-knit community. She believed in the power of good food and healthy living, and her career at Whole Foods and The Pharmaca reflected her commitment to helping others live well. She recently moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to live near family.
Maria was predeceased by her parents Leila and Frank Miceli. She is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Pioli-Niesen and Deborah McClellan, two brothers Tony Pioli and Frank Miceli, nephews Lawrence, Nicholas, Zach, Seth, and Robert, nieces Catherine, Samantha, and Eleanor, many cousins, and her grand niece and nephews.
Maria’s family will honor her wishes for cremation. A memorial gathering in her honor will be held at a later date in Staten Island, where friends and family can gather to celebrate her life and share memories.
