Gerald Walker McFarlin was born on August 12, 1939, and passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 84.

Mr. McFarlin is the son of the late Lawrence and Burbin Rainey McFarlin. He is also preceded in death by his wife Ruth Gossett McFarlin.

Mr. McFarlin is survived by his daughter Cecily (Chris) Haithcoat, son Gerald Forrest McFarlin, brother William Eugene (Wanda) McFarlin, grandchildren Tommy Haithcoat, Jesse Haithcoat, and Riley Haithcoat, along with one nephew.

Mr. McFarlin was a humble man who never sought recognition, but quietly did his best to help others and serve the Lord. He was a faithful member of the Centerville Church of Christ, where he dedicated every Sunday afternoon to changing the message on the old church sign. He served in the Tennessee Army National Guard and retired from the Tennessee Department of Human Services after 36 years. He enjoyed farming, playing his guitar, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.
