McDonald, Rodger E
Rodger E. McDonald I, 70, of Hohenwald, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at the Maury Regional Medical Center. He was born on January 16, 1949, to Buster and Doris McDonald. He married Nancy Smith.
Rodger was a dedicated public servant. Having served in the Army 5th Infantry, he was a purple heart recipient. He continued to serve even after that by becoming a service member for the VA. He was a VA Benefits officer. He helped 50+ citizens receive their benefits. He worked as a plumber/pipefitter for many years with TVA and the union-Local 572 in Nashville. He was a proud democrat and a supporter of anything American. He also was a huge supporter of everyone else’s opinion. Rodger was beloved by his church family at Hohenwald Church of Christ, as well. Overall, he is best known for being a loving father and grandfather, and a great provider.
Along with his wife, Nancy McDonald of Hohenwald, he is survived by his sons, John Wayne McDonald of Hohenwald, TN, Rodney Coolidge McDonald of Hohenwald, TN, and R.E. McDonald of Columbia, TN, brothers, Kenny McDonald, Irvin McDonald, and Louis Bryan, as well as five grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Norman Bryan.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 10:00 AM, at the Hohenwald Church of Christ with Greg Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN. Visitation with the family will begin at 8:00 AM and continue until service time.
