Simpson, Mary Carolyn
Mary Carolyn Alley Anderson Simpson, age 76, was born May 21, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Hayes “Herc” Alley and Thelma Roberts Alley. Carolyn grew up in Nashville and lived on Vanderbilt campus until 1955 when the family moved to West Meade. She attended Hillsboro High School, from where she graduated in 1961, and she worked at Third National Bank, Katy’s Hallmark, and in the Volunteer Department of St. Thomas Hospital until she moved with her family to Centerville, Tennessee.
God gave Carolyn the gifts of joy, generosity, tranquility of spirit, and wisdom. She was much loved by her friends and family. She livened up a room and made everyone feel good about themselves. She enjoyed spending time outdoors: on the lake, in the garden, on the porch of her house. She was active in the local Quilting Group in Centerville. And she dearly loved her little dog Buttons. What a woman she was! What a sister, what a wife, what a sister-in-law, what a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend! Carolyn is in Heaven now with her mother, father, friends, and especially her Savior, and we will see her again in glory.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband of forty-seven years, Charles Simpson, of Centerville, Tennessee; her three sons, Troy (Lynne) Anderson, Mark (Francesca) Anderson, and Scott Simpson; her grandsons Frankie, Taylor, and Colton Anderson, and Zach (Erica) Cox; one great grandson, Zander Cox; two brothers, Bob Alley and Tom (Susie) Alley; her brother-in-law Kenneth (Janice) Simpson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
There will be a private graveside service at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee.
