Charles “Sobby” Edward Churchwell died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Columbia on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020, with his daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law by his side.

He was the son of the late Charlie and Hettie Jane Carroll Churchwell. He was born in Hohenwald, TN on April 29th, 1937; he resided in Hohenwald his entire life.

Charles married the late Hazel Staggs on October 3rd, 1959. They were married 51 years at the time of her passing in 2010.

Charles worked at Lewis Products, which later became Dana Corp. and retired after 33 years of service. He loved fishing and was always up for a conversation about it. He was a member of the Pineview Church of Christ.

He is survived by his son Randy (Renee) Churchwell of Union City, TN; daughter Lisa (Andy) Pogue of Columbia, TN and a cherished granddaughter Jennifer (Dallas) Jordan of Union City, TN; and two step great grandchildren Zach and Julianna Jordan of Union City, TN.

Charles is preceded in death by siblings Lee Churchwell, Frances Churchwell, Martha Churchwell, Annie Ruth Nutt, Ruby Turner, and Doug Churchwell, as well as his step mother Hettie Hickerson Churchwell.

Other Survivors include siblings Mary Ann Churchwell, Birdie Jo Baker, J.W. Churchwell, J.B. Churchwell, and J.L. Churchwell all of Hohenwald.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020, from 4-8 PM at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. in Hohenwald. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Andy Pogue officiating. Burial will follow in the Springer Cemetery.
