Michael was a beloved husband, father, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Melissa McCann, son David Michael McCann, daughter Rachel McCann Moore, and son-in-law Hamilton Moore. Michael will be remembered for the many things he loved. His passion for sports was evident, whether he was home watching the Masters or Wimbledon, or traveling with friends each year to see the high school state basketball tournament. He couldn’t resist quoting funny lines from his favorite movies or filling his home with songs when he got one stuck in his head. He was never short on great book recommendations, often getting lost in the works of Cormac McCarthy and William Gay. Most of all, he loved Christ. His legacy is a steadfast example of the goodness and faithfulness of the Father.
A visitation for Michael will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 pm, with Brother Jerry McDonald officiating. It will be a time to share memories of Michael, to celebrate his life, and to honor the man he was.
