Mayberry, Joe Ward
Joe Ward Mayberry was born on January 17, 1933, at home in Centerville, Tennessee, and passed away on December 4, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 89 years old.
He is the son of the late H.C. “Coley” Mayberry and Mary Victoria Atkinson Mayberry.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Idell Daugherty Mayberry, daughter Sharon Jo Mayberry Brown, and siblings Gail Cannon and Don Mayberry.
He is survived by his granddaughter Sonya (Jeffrey) Daniels. Great Grandchildren who were like his children Jared Brown and Sierra Brown. Great Grandchildren Anthony Daniels, Bartlett Daniels, and Victoria Daniels. Brothers Billy Ray Mayberry and Jack Mayberry. Along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
Mr. Mayberry retired from the Tennessee National Guard after over 40 years of service. He achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. In his time in the Guard, he worked at both the old and new Armory in Centerville.
He attended and was a deacon at the Centerville Church of Christ for many years. He worked tirelessly on the board of Camp Meribah since the camp’s conception. He put in countless hours of effort to make Camp Meribah what it is today. He also for several years was a minister in the Centerville area to many Churches of Christ.
Mr. Mayberry was a lifelong learner. After retiring from the National Guard in 1993 he went back to school and obtained a Master of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee.
Ward was an outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, working with the Boy Scouts Pack 711, and just being in nature. He was able to hunt right up until this fall and even harvested a Turkey. He spent countless hours on his old tractor and did not let his health get in the way of doing what he loved.

Visitation will be 7 Dec 2022 from 12:oo – 1:00 PM at the Centerville Church of Christ, Centerville, TN with Funeral Services to follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Wade-Peeler Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
