Mayberry, Edith Rose
Edith Rose Corbin Mayberry, 88 of Lyles, TN departed at 11 pm on February 7th at NHC Healthcare in Dickson, TN. She was born August 22, 1934, in Lyles, TN to the late Henry Corbin and Minerva Milam-Corbin.
Mother Mayberry was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served on the mother board. She graduated from Wrigley Colored School and went on to OH Bernard High in Centerville, TN. She worked at Levis Strauss for over 20 years and retired in 1989. After retiring from Levis’ she began babysitting a majority of the youth that lived in the community. They include Tatyana, Sterling, Monae, Candace, Lenesha, Dauntrae, Alex, Lamar, Tae Tae, Bubba, Cedrick, Carlos, Avita, Dawnethia, Jordan, Maya, & Alyssa. She loved all of these children as if they were her own.
She was preceded in death by husband, Howard Lee Mayberry, sisters, Gertie (William) Collins, Lucille (Hobert) Easley, Elizabeth (James) Edmondson, Mildred (Fred) Cunningham; brothers, Thomas (Varrious) Corbin, John (Janie) Corbin, Elmer (Annie Mae) Corbin, Esley (Vera) Corbin and sister-in-law, Harriet Corbin.
Edith leaves to cherish her memory brother, Cornelius Corbin. Children, Faith (Faye) Corbin-Bell and Tammy (Nate) Horner. Stepchildren, Ann Mayberry, Sabrina Bagwell, Jerry (Loretta) Mayberry, and Hurley Mayberry. Her precious grandchildren, Antonio Bell, Jason (Brittany) Bell, & Brionne Young. Six beautiful great-grandchildren, Jasiah, Jariah, Justice, Aubree, Xaydin & Khimyah Bell. Step-grandchildren, Ronnie, Keith, & Drazson Mayberry, Maria, Brandon, & Marcus (Cassie) Bagwell, and a host of nieces and nephews that loved her as a sister or mother figure. A very special great niece, Alyssa Luckett, who was her caregiver for a brief period before her placement into NHC Healthcare.
Visitation with the family will be 11 Feb 2023 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Funeral Services will be held 12 Feb 2023 at 2:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
