Marrs, Branon Elgie
Branon Elgie Marrs, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, departed this world on February 12, 2024, at the age of 68 in Hohenwald, Tennessee. Born on April 13, 1955, in Obion, Tennessee, to Elgie William Marrs and Edna Marie Qualls Marrs, both of whom preceded him in death.
Branon attended Perry County High School, graduating in 1975, His ability to tear stuff apart and put it back together led him to further his education at the Vocational Technical School of Nashville. He later dedicated 25 years of service as a cook to Pizza Hut, where he later retired. Branon was a familiar sight to those in the community, being seen riding his bike to work, a true testament to his dedication.
For those who knew him well, Branon was the quintessential American picker—a true treasure hunter with an unquenchable zest for yard sales and thrift stores. A math genius at heart, he loved disassembling gadgets and reassembling them with expert skill.
Those who knew him affectionately referred to him as Uncle BEM—an acronym for Branon Elgie Marrs—and he wore the title proudly. His family was the epicenter of his world, especially his nieces and nephews, whom he loved immensely. Giving the best bear hugs.
Branon is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Curtis, Rose (Emad) Alkishawi, and Sharla Bowman, sister-in-law, Martha Marrs, niece, Kim O’Guin, nephew, Cody Marrs, niece, Jakki Bowman, nephew, Adam (Jennifer) Alkishawi, niece, Kristina (Shannon) White, nephew, Christopher Shelton, and niece, Shayna (Kameron) Whitehead along with numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Edwin Marrs.
A visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald, TN. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 beginning at 12:00 PM at Beech Grove Cemetery in Pleasantville, TN.
